Weapons Workshop – Kenjutsu

This workshop offers focused training in a traditional Kenjutsu katana system, covering fundamental handling, posture, movement, and applied technique. Participants study proper grips, elemental kamae (postures), and the nine primary directions of attack to build a strong technical foundation.
Training progresses into combination cuts and thrusts, integrated footwork, and a variety of classical cutting and thrusting methods. Emphasis is placed on balance, timing, distance, and efficient body mechanics.
A key component of the workshop is katana parrying (ukenagashi), taught through structured series using both standard and reverse grips. Each parry combines body movement, defensive redirection, and decisive counterattacks.
The workshop concludes with partnered two-person sword forms (mukei no kurai), allowing students to apply techniques in controlled, flowing exchanges.
Suitable for practitioners seeking a deeper understanding of classical Japanese swordsmanship.
